What the fuck year is it? C’mon Nissan, we wanna like you.

My “300hp” Infiniti makes about 420 w hp and will hopefully break into the 11's when I head to the track next month.

And what kind of mods are we talking?
![]() 04/18/2018 at 22:26 |

Doesnt it also come in 400hp trim??

Tune and E30. Here’s what I have:
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46774
There are people with closer to 460whp with a DP, intake, and more comprehensive tune (ECUTEK or Uprev).
Then there’s AMS, who went 10's on the stock turbos and race gas. They now have a built auto, forged internals, and bigger turbos and aiming for single digits.

Which is awesome, no denying that these cars have potential. But the stock car is rated at 300 which doesn’t seem like enough especially today when big numbers are King.

2018 Ford F150 be like:
“There’s a turbocharged, 2.7-liter V6 – one of two EcoBoost engines – that produces 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.”

Still crazy that the base tune is 300hp with a twin turbo V6. How many cars make more power with less? The answer is most.
![]() 04/18/2018 at 22:30 |

N55 makes just a bit more power, don’t really see an issue here.
Besides, I bet >80% of Infiniti drivers will never care about more power.

It’s underrated. People have dynoed 300whp completely stock. The link I posted shows Burger Tuning hitting 320whp completely stock but running E30 (91 and 25% E85).

Fuel economy? or a reason to buy the Red Sport?
I mean, Tesla used to sell Model S´ that had more battery capacity but they decided to keep it to themselves unless you paid up, same with upgraded autopilot.
![]() 04/18/2018 at 22:34 |

So why are they intentional underrating their engines? Didn’t we get past the whole gentlemen’s agreement thing awhile ago?
![]() 04/18/2018 at 22:35 |

N55 is also single turbo.

There is also a 2.0T though. I feel like the upgrade should just be the Red Sport

Well, such a detuned turbo v6 must have a lot of torque and good fuel economy, doubt that more than the i4, but is the i4 as powerful?
plus there’s many reasons why to get the slower car, and before I get banned here, the red sport has a harder ride and really these cars are too fat for track duty anyway :)

Lol and I have a 3 year old Toyota V6 making 310 with zero turbos.

Because they have a 400hp version and they need to justify it. It’s lame.
But when you break it down, the two engines are essentially the same. Same long block (heads, cams, etc.). Same intake and exhaust. Same turbos even. The only difference is the 400hp version has an optical sensor on the turbos to help spin the turbo faster, an additional oil cooler, and a different tune. But the optical sensor is unnecessary - even in the 400hp trim, the turbos aren’t working very hard.
My tune is just a piggyback essentially that ups the boost a bit. As a result, I make a little less torque than the 400hp version. But with a complete tune, people have made over 500wtq on the 300hp version. I’ve considered ECUTEK or Uprev, but I don’t want to risk the dealer discovering it has a tune.

So weird that a 2011 V6 Mustang makes more power..
![]() 04/18/2018 at 22:44 |

Yeah 300hp out of a v6 with two turbos.... That’s incredibly unimpressive. Now if it lasts 300,000 miles without issue while returning 35mpg mixed driving than sure, that’s awesome, but let’s be real. That’s not the case
![]() 04/18/2018 at 22:48 |

If they wanted to go the Turbo route they should have done it in 2012 . Too little too late although the 400HP Red Sport engine is legit. This should be 350Hp 320Lb/Ft at least at the crank.

Didn’t the old G37 make more with an N/A V6?
![]() 04/18/2018 at 22:56 |

Yes.
![]() 04/18/2018 at 23:01 |

And to think you can get at least two V6 Mustangs for the price of one of those

2 liter 4 bangers are pushing 300 Hp from a number of manufacturers.

And discontinued...

My rev up g35 makes nearly that.

what the heck, I thought that new motor was supposed to make something like 400hp...
